Shavertown Bridge Over Pepacton Reservoir—Construction 1952-53.

This five-span bridge was the largest bridge ever built in Delaware County. The Cayuga Foundation Co. was awarded the $1,336,800 contract in October of 1952 for the piers and abutments which took sixteen months to complete. The contract did not include the bridge deck or superstructure. The bridge brought Route 30 across the valley on piers and abutments 110 feet tall of poured concrete with steel sheet pilings; the top fifty feet of the piers faced with granite. —Courtesy of the Town of Colchester Historian’s Facebook Page-2016
